This course aims at allowing primary school teachers who have little or no French at all to deliver effectively French lessons for year 5/6.

This resource is an extract from a larger National Museum Wales project that allows pupils to become a virtual marine scientist and explore the Bristol Channel The main activity here explores food chains and relationships in the channel, incorporating an interactive activity with a supporting lesson plan, worksheets, photos and videos. The full CD based resource contains four more interactive activities with lesson plans and additional resources, all available in English and Welsh.

This activity introduces the form of art known as 'cubism' to the class. It firstly shows how artists can use shapes to make abstract portraits or 'funny faces.' Pupils look at a picture of a face painted in the cubist style and discuss shapes used, position of facial features and colours chosen. They then have an opportunity to make their own cubist face by following the on-screen instructions which add abstract facial features one at a time to their portrait. Pupils then have the opportunity of choosing a colour scheme for their picture and are able to print it.

The two activities in this lesson are designed to illustrate to pupils the main features of structures using sheet materials. The first activity shows the names of the main parts of a model house. The second enables teachers to show pupils how to join sheet materials simply. Teachers should introduce, explain and discuss the following words and concepts with pupils: door, window, floor, chimney, wall, stairs and roof. Both activities show a complete model first and teachers should discuss with pupils how to disassemble and then reassemble the product.

This interactive activity provides opportunities for the exploration of structure in musical composition. It features a character called Dewi the Dragon. The activity teaches pupils how the order of sounds in a sequence may be changed to create different compositions. Pupils are asked to create their own sequences using instrument sounds they have selected and are then asked to perform these sequences. Pupils are able to use pictorial resources to help them sequence their musical ideas.

This resource acts as a virtual Advent calendar and could be used with the accompanying Word documents as a standalone lesson or for a few minutes each day in December to introduce and explore Christmas traditions around the World, both old and new. The aim of this resource pack is to introduce pupils to ways of travelling to school now and in the past. Pupils complete graphs on how they travel to school, how their parents travelled to school and how their grandparents travelled to school. They answer questions about what they have found out and compare the different ways of travelling. Pupils should learn to distinguish between aspects of their lives and past times, sequence modes of transport correctly and sequence three drawings relating to their own lives.

A Maths support programme based on yearly tests which focus on key objectives. There is a test for pupils in each of the years 2 to 6 and each test has been designed around the key objectives in the previous year’s programme of study. The intention is that the pupils’ performance on the test would serve as a diagnostic tool for identifying areas of the previous year’s work which require further development for certain pupils.

This resource pack is designed to teach the differences and similarities in working life between the past and the present over several lessons, or when needed. The pack is a visual stimulus to promote discussion and illustrates why jobs were different in the past. Clothing and tools are covered in more detail. In this pack pupils should learn to: * make comparisons about the way we live today and lived in the past * discuss what life must have been like in past times * describe the jobs needed in the past, and today

The teacher delivering these activities must familiarise him/herself with the Outdoor Learning Cards prior to undertaking the lessons in this unit. The lessons here are pitched at an average ability level, but there may be requirements to adapt the lesson to different classes. The differentiation and progression sections on the O.L.C’s will aid in this process.

This thinking skill based resource introduces pupils to a Welsh town suffering from a build up of rubbish. Mirroring actual events happening now around the world pupils can debate the opinions of the townspeople, consider the impact of waste on the environment and evaluate the possible effects of these problems in their own areas. This resource covers aspects of the Consumption and Waste, Natural Environment and Choices and Decisions themes in ESDGC.

This resource uses ACTIVStudio software and online activities and has 3 sections. The first covering general problem solving, and includes an online multichoice questionnaire where pupils can enter their name, and print off their scores. Multiplication and division is covered in the second section including learning tables with extension material looking at inverse operations. Finally, addition and subtraction looks at number bonds to 10 and 20.

The resource pack contains four topics; Fi fy hun, Dillad, Bwyd and Anifeiliad. Each topic consists of downloadable sound files and picture files and a collection of interactive whiteboard resources. The activities include snap games, stories, songs and interactive activities.

An interactive whiteboard resource exploring the story of Rhiannon from the Mabinogion. This lesson is based on the tale of Rhiannon's misfortune from the Welsh folk tale collection, The Mabinogion. The pack includes a version of the story suitable for KS2, a playscript, a wordsearch for revising key words, and a series of backdrops that can be used for performances of the play, or as a stimulus for improvisational drama.
